DAY 13 - SUNSHINE WALKING

DALNAGLAR CASTLE TO BLAIRGOWRIE

It was a terrible start to the day with a snoring woman in our 9 bed dorm who woke me at 4.45am and carried on relentlessly until i eventually got up at 7am!! Uggh! These uncontrollable snorers should not be allowed to communally share rooms like this and i will be thinking very carefully before repeating this sharing arrangement again! I think i must have been just lucky up until now as this is the first disasterous night i have had at the YHA's ..... but so pleased we are moving on today to our own family sharing!

Anyway, i managed to relieve my frustrations with a wonderful 8 mile cycle with Sam in the beautiful morning sunshine along the river and back again, seeing over 50 deer on our way. A much better start to the day and we then packed up and were ready to go by 9.45am, all in the car ...... and then .... a flat battery! Fortunately we had a clued up German couple who were prepared for every eventuality (as most German motorists are!) and 10 minutes later we were all revved up and back on track for our journey south.

Sam and i started our walk just past Angus Coupar and did 10 miles along the lovely sunny lanes of Perthshire taking just over 3 hours with Sam map reading beautifully at every junction! His minor hamstring strain was healed quite quickly with a Magnum ice cream and other than that, he managed the walk incredibly well!!

Mike collected us and took us on to Perth centre for a quick bit of retail therapy and then on for a matinee performance at the local cinema for Sam and i to recover over a movie!! We picked up some tea on our way to our next 3 nights accommodation and enjoyed a shower and getting into our PJ's in time for BGT semi final!!!

The weather has been the best of the whole trip so far today for me and at last i got to experience some of the summer temperatures that the South has been boasting for a while now! My face has rather a rosy nose to show for it but i will make sure i slap on the suncream tomorrow when its Olivia's day with me and ....... guess what? ..... we are on for a lie in!! Horray!!
